Field Military
Name Air Vice Marshal Pongsak semachai course NDC class 59
The objective of this research was to evaluate performance, problems, and
limitation of the current public relations of the Royal Thai Air Force. Such evaluation
would facilitate the studies and the analysis of methods and factors associated with the
enhancement of the human resource to strengthen the public relations of the Royal
Thai Air Force and would provide the guideline for the improvement of the human
resource to achieve the effective public relations.
The subjects involved in the research were limited to the commissioned
officers whose positions were in the executive level and directly related to the public
relations. The qualitative methodology was implemented in this research focusing on the
comments gathered during the interviews of the target group along with the SWOT
analysis.
Conclusion of the research reveals that the public relations are currently
under the responsibility of the Public Relations Committee while Directorate of Civil
Affairs supervises the areas of civil affairs and public relations utilizing resources from
various Royal Thai Air Force components to accomplish the related missions.
Problems and limitation presently found were the immense use of social networks
by people to express their comments and opinions. Use of such technology has
resulted in the difficulty in monitoring. Additionally, due to the fact that coordination
among public relations units of the Royal Thai Air Force was unclear and imprecise, the
researcher has developed four improvement strategies for human resource in public
relations of the Royal Thai Air Force including: 1. Strategy in the improvement strategy of
personnel potential in the public relations through social network; 2. Strategy in providing
personnel in the public relations with the postgraduate education in this field; 3. Strategy
in producing public relations television program through online television; 4. Strategy in
the integration of the coordination among the public relations personnel in the Royal
Thai Air Force.
It is recommended that the strategies achieved from this research be
considered as a guideline in the revision of the civil affairs in the Royal Thai Air Force
Master Plan 2017-2021. There should also be the studies and analysis of the
processes in applying the improvement strategies for human resource under the case
study of public relations units in the Royal Thai Air Force.
