ABSTRACT
Title : The functional testing of electronic systems (A case study of the combat
system on the ship).

There are many Electronic Systems used in the navy. Those systems require the
interoperability of electronic devices for multiple targets. Connecting these devices together, to be
able to work as a system, requires a specialized known as System Integrator to connect the
systems together. At present, the Integrated System, the cost is quite high and is almost totally run
by foreign companies. This cause risks to information system characteristics (System
Specification). The programming language specified as Hardware Description Language (HDL)
and the use of computers can simulate the performance and the interoperability of electronic
devices. By the start of class IC, VLSI, Circuit, Equipment, and System of Equipment, HDL can
be used to trial the proper functionality of the electronic systems. In this case electronic systems
used in the ship combat system are considered as an example. That reduces the problem of
security of information system characteristics. They can reduce the maintenance systems used in
the military as well as the empowerment in research and development. Results from the analysis
made aware of the problems and disruptions in the supply of electronic equipment for the ship
combat system. The analysis also showed that the use of tools for monitoring specific features of
electronic devices such as VHDL language can increase efficiency in the provision of electronic
equipment to meet the requirements even more. It is a tool to investigate the electronic equipment
in connection with other electronic systems and also help in simulating the behavior of the system
for use in the repair and maintenance of the electronic equipment. In addition, this technique can
get more knowledge and expertise of personnel and also the cooperation with various institutions
in the field of language VHDL.
