The research’s objectives are the studies of forest crises in Thailand and forest
conservation as well as concept of sustainable forest management in order to present the
approaches to apply the sufficiency economy philisophy administer buffer zones that could
potentially lead to secure and sustainable development in Huay Kha Khaeng forest area. The
research utilizes the qualitative approach by collecting data and analyzing.
The development concept the can be applied to the buffer zone development are the
sustainable development that emphasizes the values of environmental sustainability, economic as
well as social sustainability. Another concept is the sufficiency economy that is the philosophy
for life conducts of general peoples through the middle path way including moderation,
reasonableness and self-insulation from the internal and external impacts.
Huay Kha Khaeng forest area is national reserved forest 5 Km. on east side from the
area of HuayKhaKhaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. It is only one side that is dangerous and weak to the
sanctuary and community areas that are important to protect the sanctuary. Huay Kha Khaeng
Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the large wildlife sanctuary located in U-thaiThani province.
The study finds that the management of buffer zone around Huay Kha Khaeng
conserving forest must emphasize the agricultural area management by ways of professional
development in the buffer zone around the conserving forest, integrated planning to enhance the
people to participate in resources self- management , as well as proposing the approaches to
bring sufficiency economy philosophy of organic farming in managing the buffer zone suitable
for the sustainability of national development and administration.
