Abstract
Title : The Formation of the value of Thai society in the context of
National security

The increasingly uncontrolled globalization results in the decline of the
nation's character. The problem which can undermine the basic values of culture
become very important in the dynamics of the the nation and state’s life.
Globalization has entered the whole life of the community. The most important thing
is the appreciation of the social values of the people of Thailand which became the
foundation and the nation's way of life. All the values of Thai customs and cultural
values as well as the religious values of the Thai society have been tested through a
very long historical process. It is necessary to revive the spirit of nation’s character
building in order to build and improve the identity of the nation which have
resilience to cope with the increasingly complex environmental changes which tend
to threaten the national resilience.
Thus, a good youth preparation policy through an integrated education
system, the preservation of customs and the existence of national leadership which is
set to become a model for the people is expected to be the foundation for providing
optimal results on strengthening the nation's character. Consequently, the policy is
needed by the government and the people of Thailand as a whole. It is necessary to
build a common framework based on one's determination and spirit in one goal that
is cooperating hand in hand to overcome any nation problems that arise, make
prevention efforts and protect any elements from outside which will deteriorate the
nation's cultural values of character development and national identity, cope with the
increasingly evolving environmental changes today, become a very appropriate and
strategic choice to improve national identity in order to realize a strong national
resilience.
In order for reinforcement to contribute as much as possible to the
improvement of national identity in the framework of national resilience, this paper
gives a picture of the condition t of he social value of the Thai society. However, it is
limited to the knowledge, experience seen, heard and read by the writer at present,
when taking ccourse at the National Defense College of Thailand. The expected
social values of Thai society are elaborated through descriptive analysis of facts and
data, as well as literature studies of some references underlying the thinking and the
factors that influence it. This writing also contains policy advice, some strategies and
efforts to strengthen the core values of the Thai Society. Hopefully this paper can
provide inspiration and benefits for the progress of the nation in the region.
