Abstract
Title Ways to improve the roles of Royal Thai Army Chemical Department
for entering the Asean Community.

The objectives of this research were to study the roles of Royal Thai Army Chemical
Department responding to Non-Traditional Threat in Disaster Relief from Chemical Hazards and
their improvements for entering the Asean Community. The research is qualitative using
descriptive and constant comparison techniques to analize data collected from related textbooks
and official documents.
Results of this study revealed that the role of Royal Thai Army Chemical is to adjust
the structure of the chemical company to be more compact and to be more international. In order
to carry on all 3 mission, that is, I nation defence mission that is the role of support unit II.
Internal security mission such as crowd control in case of use of chemical equipment. III Allies
co-operation mission such as anti-terrorist support mission and disaster relief from CBRN Hazard.
The Structure of the chemical company should consist of command and control company
2 CBRN regimen and 1 support regimen.
The Royal Thai Army Chemical Department should finish adjusting this structure
before entering the Asean Community and 5 years further more we should do the research and
development in the CBRN field. Also expand the co-operation in disaster relief from
CBRN Hazard and give more information about the CBRN operation. The next step that the
Chemical Department should take action in every level to form a specialist team that include
CBRN specialist and operation team to work together in researching and adjusting the
Chemical Department and establishing CBRN battalion structure to be prepared for the future
CBRN threat.
