This paper explores the water resource management guideline’s study for
Thailand’s highland boundary in Chiang Mai to solve lack of water and migration problem.
The purpose of this study was to study the water use and the shortage of water in the
border area. Guidelines for water management in highland communities and related
environments. Gather information and look for problems that will lead to Determination is
a guideline for water management. Shortage of water upstream areas are caused by access
to clean water services. Due to the scattered habitat in the forest. High and remote areas of
surface water. The groundwater was low and development was delayed.
This research is a qualitative research. How to use the study to gather
information from relevant documents (Documentary Research) and depth interviews (Indepth Interview) from Experts with experience in water management policy. The
questionnaire was used to collect data.
The results showed that the factors affecting the water management in the
highlands. The problem is the shortage of water. Upstream areas are caused by access to
clean water services. Due to the scattered habitat in the forest. High and remote areas of
surface water. The groundwater was low and development was delayed. The problem of
water shortage for agriculture is often encountered in agricultural areas outside the irrigated
area. Highland areas will be cultivated with less water. And accept the condition of rainwater only for agriculture but today there are changes in the climate. Environment There is a need
for increased water.
Water management planning for most water shortages is in the dry season of
the area. The cost of water in the water. In response to the demand for water in all activities
thoroughly and fairly. Most of the highland areas rely heavily on rainwater and support
irrigation water in the early rainy season or during the precipitation period.
Water management needs to be carried out along with other processes to balance the
environment. Promotion of soil and water conservation. Development of small water
resources. Add organic matter to the soil to increase gaps in soil. Organizing appropriate
cropping systems. The rehabilitation of forest areas, especially the upstream forest areas,
must be prioritized for water allocation. For the consumer. For agriculture and to maintain
ecology.
