The objectives of this research were 1) To study the trend of repairing Royal Thai
Survey aircrafts. 2) To study the aircraft maintenance method of the Royal Thai Survey
Division. This is a qualitative research using primary data from in-depth interviewing of 3
experts: Director of Aeronautical Engineering, The deputy vice president Technical Support
Department Technical Department Thai Airway International Public Company limited and
Directorof Joint Logistics , Royal Thai Armed Forces. This research hasalso included secondary
data which are regulations and orders relating to this research.
The results showed that the cause of ineffectiveaircraft maintenance was due
to three problems. The first problem concerned structural maintenance of the unit
that wasnot suitable for the quantity and type of the royal Thai Survey aircrafts today.
The second problem was about the lack of Aircraft Mechanics with experiences and
skill in the maintenance processes. The last problem was about the inefficiency of
repair operation in the Royal Thai Survey division that can not keep up to date with
the present environment and the procurement process which was limited by regulations.
The conclusion of this study to solve problems of the royal Thai Survey division‘s aircraft maintenance suggests that more attention should be focused on improving the
three problemsareas mentioned above in order to generate more efficiency in aircraft
maintenance management which would result in better flight safety.
