ABSTRACT
Title : Study of Work Ethics of Personnel in the Joint of Directorate of
Personnel, the Royal Thai Armed Force

The topic of this research is “the study of work ethics of personnel in the
Joint of Directorate of Personnel, the Royal Thai Armed Forces.” The objective of this
research is to study the work ethics of personnel in the Joint of Directorate of Personnel
and compare them with personnel’s opinions about their work ethics classified by their
personal status (gender, age, education level, marital status and classification). Another
objective is to develop guidelines for work ethics for personnel in the Joint of Directorate
of Personnel. The hypothesis for this research is the personnel with different personal
status (gender, age, education level, marital status and classification) will give different
opinions about work morality of personnel in the Joint of Directorate of Personnel. The
population for this research is the personnel (commissioned officers and
noncommissioned officers) in the Joint of Directorate of Personnel, except 151
commissioned officers with the rank of generals. Questionnaires are the main tool for
seeking the primary data. The primary data of the questionnaires is composed of work morality in 5 areas: characteristics of work, discipline, honesty, unity, and gratitude.
After the data was collected, it was analyzed by using a statistical program called SPSS
for Windows to obtain the percentage of base data of the population, the mean, the
standard deviation, the “t” value (t-test), and the “F” value (F-test).
The findings of this research indicate that the personnel in the Joint of
Directorate of Personnel have a high level of work ethics. Under the considerations of
each factor, the honesty factor has the work ethics in the middle level. The factors of
gratitude, characteristics of work, discipline, and unity have higher work ethics,
accordingly. The level comparison of work morality classified by different personal
status (gender, age, education level, marital status and classification) was found that
there was no different in over all, which is not in agreement with the hypothesis.
However, with the detail considerations, the honesty factor with the medium level of
work morality was found that the work ethics regarding the stealing in the offices was in
the low level. The honesty factor for telling a truth among the colleague is in the highest
level. The rest of the work ethics factors are in the medium level.
The recommendations from this research are as follows: an immediate
supervisor must have virtue, ethics, and must give the justice to personnel equally, do not
use double standards, should pay attention to the personnel’s rights and welfares. In
addition, there should be an arrangement for activities such as sport competition, unity
party, and seminar. The adjustment of the administrative system is also needed by using
the principles of good governance and virtue system seriously to persuade the personnel
to have kind, unity and devote themselves to work efficiently. The adjustment will have
a good affect on the personnel, the immediate supervisor, and the institution, which will
result in the success of the given mission by the supervisors.
